Manuel Alberto Aybar

Conductor, Educator, and Arts Leader

Manuel Alberto Aybar is a conductor, educator, and arts administrator with extensive experience leading orchestras, operas, and educational programs worldwide. His work spans North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia, where he has conducted major symphonies, jazz performances and operatic productions, emphasizing cultural exchange and artistic excellence.

Aybar has held key positions, including Artistic Director & Conductor of the City of Riverside Symphony Orchestraand Artistic & General Director of Riverside Lyric Opera. His leadership extended internationally as Principal Guest Conductor of the Hunan Opera & Dance Company in China and Principal Guest Conductor of the Ensenada Chamber Orchestra in Mexico. He has also collaborated with orchestras such as the National Orchestras of Nicaragua, El Salvador, Uruguay, and Bolivia, as well as the Sibiu Philharmonic in Romania, the Ukrainian State Philharmonic, and the Rome Festival Orchestra in Italy.

Beyond conducting, Aybar is deeply committed to music education. He has served as Visiting Instructor & Guest Conductor at the National Autonomous University of Baja California, Artist-in-Residence at Guangxi Arts Institute and Hunan Normal University, and Music Instructor & Conductor at Mount San Jacinto College. As the Founding Artistic & General Director of the Riverside Music Institute (ow Riverside School of the Arts ), he developed programs to support all musicians and promote accessible arts education.

His training includes fellowships at the Aspen Music Institute, Harvard University, the Royal College of Music, the California Conducting Institute, and the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music. Additionally, his expertise in arts management is supported by certifications in Lean Six Sigma, Transformational Leadership, Project Management, and Policy & Data Analysis, equipping him with the skills to lead arts organizations effectively.
